Experiencing unspoiled nature

The Trenta valley lies in the Triglav National Park, one of the first and most beautiful parks in the Alps. The park is home to over 5,500 plant and animal species and is widely known for its cultural landscape features such as cultivated fields, meadows, hay meadows and pasturelands, valley settlements and alps, typical houses and abundant small hayracks, sheds and homesteads.

The Trenta valley is, therefore, subject to certain rules and regulations governing movement and activities in the park. Park visitors are asked not to disturb wildlife, and minimize damage to plants. Dogs must be kept on a leash and under control at all times, also to prevent them from chasing domestic animals. The lighting of fires is prohibited as any fire can have disastrous consequences for the area. Please make sure you don’t leave any rubbish behind when you leave. Taking the litter home or depositing it in specially designed dustbins not only protects the environment but also ensures that you will experience unspoiled nature every time you visit the Triglav National Park.

As trails often lead across private property, please respect the privacy of landowners and other local inhabitants. Leave your car in a specially designated areas so as not to hinder the access or work of local residents. Sheep-breeding and cheese-making are traditional activities in the Trenta valley. The pastures here are always fenced. Please ensure that you close the field gates behind you as chasing stray sheep is rather time-consuming.
